Girl Scout Project
On Friday, May 17th, 2013 Girl Scout Troop #7855 of Palos Verdes participated in the first hands-on service project on behalf of Happy Hats for Kids in Hospitals, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Torrance, CA. The troop members creatively decorated colorful Happy Hats, which were donated to the children of Providence TrinityKids Care Hospice in Torrance, CA. Each girl also wrote heartwarming notes which were tucked into each Happy Hat. This project gave the troop members a sense of compassion, selflessness, and the feeling of how fortunate they are to be able to offer their time to helping very ill children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. This unique service project served as an opportunity for the girls to earn their Cadette MEdia Journey Award badge. In addition, they also donated a generous portion of their cookie sales proceeds to Happy Hats for Kids and Providence TrinityKids Care Hospice in an effort to make an impact in their local communities.
Each Girl Scout will receive a Hero Club Pin to attach to her sash/vest and a Hero Hat as our gift of appreciation.
